This version comes with the latest Dynamic Cockpit features: Damage effects, Shadow Mapping and Animations.
It also has new features that are available in future and Beta Effect releases: Beam effects and damage textures.
Ace Antilles has also given the ship more personality with it’s unique laser, engines and flyby sounds.

But that’s not all! There’s also a brand new modified Mandalorian N-1 Starfighter optional profile!
Now you can fly the new custom built N1 that Din Djarin flies in the TV show.
It even has a working SLAM system to achieve super speeds by pressing the K button.
You can select this as your default ship in the installer or it can be setup as a Profile in custom missions.

This new ship is only compatible with the latest X-Wing Alliance Upgrade releases.
You should have the XWAU Mega Patch 2020 and Update 5.5 or later installed before you carry on with this install.
It is NOT designed to be used with an active install of the TIE Fighter Total Conversion (TFTC). If you do then it will corrupt the campaign missions. It’s recommended to have a duplicate install to use for custom ships.

View the Readme documents for all the full details and there are screenshots on the Starships download page.
The cockpit alone looks brilliant! Feel free to leave any comments about this release on my XWAU Forum page.

I hope you all enjoy this joint effort and I hope I can release more stuff once the next XWA Upgrade is finished.
16th March 2023: News Update
Greetings Pilots! Long time no see. I'm sorry for a lack of updates, so I thought I would give a quick explanation.
The last year or so has been very difficult for me. I lost a close family member, I've just moved house and other areas have taken more importance. So my personal projects have had to take a backseat. I restarted this website during Lockdown and I knew that free time would be hard once it ended. I have more ideas than I have time for.

The good news is I have been doing a lot of work for XWA Upgrade. When the next Mega Patch is released that will allow much more freedom to add custom craft and mods easier hopefully. So rather than release things twice the focus has been to make XWAU the best it can be.

I still have the Battle of Endor Update to complete. Which typically was part of my main plan but has got sidelined.

Saying that, I will be having a new release on this site very soon!!
I am working with DTM to release an updated version of one of his classic fighters but with new modern extras.
It will have all the recent features that the XWAU supports including a cool Dynamic Cockpit!

So watch this space for that soon. I leave you by saying that the next XWAU release is looking amazing! ;-)
25th November 2021: Updated Releases - XWA HD Videos
Sorry it's been a while since I updated my site. My personal life has been rather rough the last few months.
When I've had some free time I've been busy working on XWA Upgrade projects too. Some you will see very soon!

XWA HD Videos: This is an renamed release of a video upgrade that I really should have promoted more before.
Marcop000 from the XWAU Upgrade forums created these videos and graciously allowed me to host them.

The XWA HD Cutscenes Videos replace the original Battle cutscene videos in the game with new HD versions.
He has taken the old SNM files and recoded them as AVI files with a much larger frame size for widescreen monitors.
They have also been enhanced to try and improve the older quality videos as best as possible.
As a bonus he has also created Italian spoken versions that you can find as an alternative download on my site.

The XWA HD Concourse Menu Videos are a new addition to the download package. These replace the original Concourse menu videos in the game with new HD versions. Videos like the Tech Globe or Simulator Pod closing.

I've created a new setting in the installer which let's you choose to play these videos in the Default ratio or Widescreen. Widescreen will stretch the videos to fit the screen. The menu videos can look a little weird stretched out, I find Default ratio works the best. They still look great in either mode. You can change the ratio by running the installer again or using the Babu Frik’s Configurator from the XWAU game launcher.

A few of the videos included might replace other video upgrade mods you may have installed. For example, the XWA Movie Crawl. I recommended you install this upgrade before those installers. If you accidentally overwrite it then reinstall your preferred version or copy from the Backup folder into the Movies folder.
View the Readme document for all the full details and you can get the new versions now on the Upgrades page.

XWA Movie Crawl: I've updated this release to include the Default or Widescreen viewing choices.
The XWA Movie Crawl replaces the Intro_Final cutscene video in the game with a new HD version. I commissioned Angel to create a new beginning that adds the missing classic “A long time ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away” to the video and a brand-new HD title crawl. This was then blended into a HD upsized version of the opening cutscene created by Evil Mark. So if you want the full Star Wars movie start then this is the video upgrade to install.
You should install this after the XWA HD Videos mod to avoid it being overwritten by that upgrade.

X-Wing Outpost Update: I still have many things I want to do with the site but a lot of them depend on future updates to the XWA Upgrade. So I am spending a lot of my time on that. I'll try and add more stuff when I can.
Feel free to leave any comments about these updates, or any other release, on my XWAU Forum page.

I want to wish everyone a great Thanksgiving or Black Friday and let's hope we get a white Christmas!

XWA Sound Upgrade: 20 years ago, I released my first sound upgrade download and now I’ve finally made a totally new improved update! The XWA Sound Upgrade replaces over 230 of the original sound effects in the game with brand new versions! The sounds featured are used in various areas of the game.
From in-flight, to the menus and Concourse announcements. There are new Hangar background noises, lasers, explosions, flybys, missiles, Droids, beams, sound effects and more! I’ve included sound files I’ve found from many various sources to try and create an authentic Star Wars experience.

The installer will automatically place the necessary files into the relevant folders for you and replace existing versions.
I realise many veteran players have probably already customised some XWA sounds already, maybe some of my old ones! That is why the installer will place all the overwritten files into the Backup folder where you can restore them if you wish. This upgrade is only for the “High” quality sounds folder. The installer will alter the options setting for you.

I've spent a long time trying to make sure as many sounds as possible are timed correctly to match in-game events. So I do suggest giving my sounds several tests before going back to any previous ones please.
With so many sounds and things happening in game it’s been hard to test them all properly. In particular areas like Beam weapons which need the player to be hit by another to hear it. Also, the game can slow sounds down in some places. So if anyone finds something weird sounding then please let me know on my Forum area on the XWAU.

XWA Upgrade Improvements: The XWAU has just unlocked new amazing sound features! Now we can assign select unique sound effects to every ship in the game. This includes the Hangars. Each Station with a hangar opt in game can now have its own version of the Hangar ambience background sounds.
In v1.0 of my Upgrade I have included new sounds for the Rebel Calamari hangars and the Azzameen Family Station.
This means when the player is in the Calamari hangars the sounds will be more Rebel orientated but not affect other Stations. There will be more great sound improvement features to come from the XWA Upgrade soon!

The download is hosted on the MEGA site for the time being. Go to the Sound page to download it now!

X-Wing Outpost Update: I hope you all liked the R-22 A-wing ship released earlier in the month. I am working with DTM to release some more of his ships soon. Just adding some finishing touches to bring them up to the 2021 levels.

I'm also improving the Cutscene installers to give more options to choose Widescreen selection or not.
All this while working a real job and trying to make the XWAU as amazing as possible. I need a time machine!
Enjoy the new release and let me know what you think on the Forum. May The Force Be With You!
5th May 2021: New Release - R-22 Spearhead A-wing
I hope you had a happy May the 4th but now it's time for the Revenge of the Fifth! Plus a new release!

R-22 A-Wing Fighter: This is a brand new release from starship Opt creator DTM of MTD Industries.
He has kindly allowed me to host it on The X-Wing Outpost and it's finally the first item on my Starships page.

This ship comes with the latest new XWA features. Animated Cockpit Damage effects, Cockpit Shadow Mapping, Animations and Dynamic Cockpit. There are base, cockpit and exterior opts all with high quality textures.
The ship has 4 different flightgroup colour choices and will show the correct icons in the map and Hud too.

The download will contain all the necessary files. You have the choice for an automatic install to a specific slot, or extract extra files to the MODS folder to perform a manual installation using the MXvTED shp file system.
View the Readme documents for all the full details and there are screenshots on the Starships download page.
It looks amazing in game. Feel free to leave any comments about this release on my XWAU Forum page.

X-Wing Outpost Update: I was hoping to have another project ready for release but it still needs a little more work.
I'm happy to say my XWA Interface Update is now included in the XWAU Mega Patch! I hope everyone enjoys it.
I tidied up the site a little in places. There will be more new and old Opts added in the future. It takes time to make them 2021 ready. Also I am working on a mod for the XWAU that will really change the way we enjoy the game!

I want to wish everyone a great Star Wars Day for yesterday and enjoy your Sith Day and this new release!
1st January 2021: New release - XWA Interface Update
I'm happy to finally release this brand new huge update that I've spent long hours on creating since the summer.

XWA Interface Update: This upgrades the look of most of the menu screens found in the Flight Simulator room and others. It replaces nearly all the interface images stored in the Frontend2.dat file. Many of them look a little dated so I thought it would be fun to update them with brand new images featuring craft made by the XWAU.
This means when selecting options in Quick Skirmish there is updated X-Wing, A-Wing craft images and more.
Also most of the Icon boxes are updated too. They are now clearer new versions of the original design ideas.
When replaying a Tour of Duty, images have been updated for difficulty, missile choices, collisions and more.
I’ve also replaced the menu Cutscene movie preview pictures with improved versions.
The Multiplayer section has had the screens updated with new Cockpit images on the menus.
The Racing Missions section has had its menus updated too for the Yard race selection screen.
Lastly in the Crew Quarters there are new improved Rebel and Imperial kill tally icons.

So essentially most of the buttons etc you see that you interact with in the game have been altered to look better.
I'll post a bunch of screenshots on the XWAU Forum which will illustrate some of the changes better.
See the Readme file for all the changes. I hope you like as I think it gives a 20 year old game a little bit of polish.

XWA Movie Crawl v1.1: I've updated the XWA Movie Crawl installer. It was conflicting with the XWA HD Cutscenes version as it is MP4 and the other AVI. The game played the AVI first. So now it will backup and delete the AVI version when installed. So you can decide which version you want to use.

X-Wing Outpost Update: I realise such a lot of the site still needs finishing but everything takes time sadly.
I have more plans in my head than spare time in the day. My next major release is something else I've been working on for a long time and is 90% complete. It's a complete overhaul of the special effect sounds from the game.
I want to add some Starships to the site but I need to actually test many of them as they are very old. I have had some interesting developments in that area which should be great for the future.

I want to wish everyone who visits and still enjoys these Star Wars games a very Happy New Year!
26th November 2020: The X-Wing Outpost has launched!
Welcome to the new relaunch of The X-Wing Outpost from Ace Antilles! It's been a long time coming but it's finally back online. There's still a lot of sections unfinished but if I didn't release what I have done then I may never get it sorted! I will be gradually adding to the sections when I can and real life permits me.

What's here for me, you ask? Upgrades, Videos, Missions, Downloads etc for all the X-Wing game series.
My plan is to add cool stuff from many creators and host some of the old releases that have vanished from the Net.
It's a grand plan that maybe bigger than I expected! So we shall see how that goes ;)
I'm working on 2 brand new major updates for XW Alliance which I will hope to be releasing asap.

Here is a rundown on the sections you can find on The X-Wing Outpost:
Battle of Endor Update: One of my original mods is undergoing a 2020 revamp with better quality.
Downloads: I've added downloads for some of the major and most useful XWA tools and editors.
Missions: These are my old hosted Missions but I've also added some cool Skirmish files to use.
Sounds: I will be hosting some great Sound upgrades to use to make your game sound better.
Starships: This will be for any Opt files. I hope to add some of the older but still great ships in the future.
Upgrades: Crew Rooms, Video upgrades and other great tweaks to the game can be found here.

XW Series: I will add a few nice bits to this section as I can find them but the majority will be for XWA.
Downloads: I will have general other Star Wars or fun downloads in the future.
Forum: You can visit my forum area on the XWA Upgrade site for news or sneak peeks.
Websites have changed a lot in over 10 years! It's taken time to rebuild it so I hope you like what I have done.
Things have come a long way and I had to relearn lots! Due to redirect issues I've had to disable the Mobile view option as it wasn't working properly. I find the site works ok so far and if viewed horizontally it looks fine too.
If you remember my site from the good old days, then welcome back. If you're a new visitor, greetings! Enjoy.
